Bogie in Ontario, sweetheart

| | Comments (3) |

Looks like we've missed "The Big Sleep" and "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" earlier this month, but two more Bogart classics are playing at the Ontario City Library, 215 E. C St., the next two Thursdays.

"Casablanca" is playing tonight and "The Caine Mutiny" rounds out the month. I love "Casablanca" but have seen it often enough that I'll take a pass. "Caine Mutiny," however, I've never seen. Barring complications, I'll be there.

Screenings begin at 6:30 p.m. and admission is free.

The Caine Mutiny is good, and Fred MacMurray is great. And Bogie is, well, Bogie -- superb. However, the "mutiny" part was unclear to me, and as I've only seen it once, I still don't get it. Maybe I'll see you there...once my kids are well. Darned colds. Stupid fevers. Grrrr!!!!! :) :)

Dave, bring 2 or 3 steel ball bearings, about the size of a large marble, hold them in your palm and you will see why I am making this suggestion. This is one of Bogie's better movies, don't miss it.

Kristen, "The Caine Mutiny" may be an old novel, but it is still available, and an excellent book. It is the first adult novel I read. (Adult in the sense that it was written for adults; there is no porn in it.) I bought it used at my elementary school summer fair when I was either 10 or 11, and pretty much stopped frequenting the kids' sections of various libraries until I had a kid of my own.
