New record store coming to Ontario
A new record store? In 2009? Second Spin is taking over the former Vans Skate Park slot at Ontario Mills, where the store will sell used -- not new -- CDs, DVDs and video games. I'll report more when I know more. Grand opening is scheduled for Aug. 27.
In the meantime, here are links to the store's website and to the Second Spin site. There are Second Spin stores in Costa Mesa, Sherman Oaks, Santa Monica and Denver. The owner is NY-based Transworld Entertainment, which owns Sam Goody, Suncoast, Wherehouse, Musicland and other chains.

Now records (real LPs) are so old that "used record stores" don't even deal with them anymore. Painful for someone with a couple hundred mid-70s 78s stashed in the garage.
[Not necessarily true, Bob! Vinyl is becoming a commodity again at many stores. Rhino in Claremont is doing good business with them, for instance. Btw, I'll assume you meant 33s, not 78s. -- DA]

As a matter of fact, I was in the Best Buy store in Montclair, CA yesterday, and discovered newly released albums (vinyl)! Of course, they were "boxed sets" but they are vinyl!
And on the new record store opening in the Ontario Mills plaza? I wish them luck! Especially with the recent demise of Virgin Records.
