Painter didn't know when to stop

This pavement marker would be a good spot for a DUI checkpoint. The view is to the south on College Avenue at Arrow Highway in Claremont. The crosswalk lines aren't much straighter.

Are budget cuts responsible for the rash of goofy traffic signs you're seeing? Have you just become more aware of your surroundings?
I never see goofs because my eyes are glued to that giant SUV headed my way. I guess life is simpler in the roads you travel and that would make observation easier.
Keep 'em coming!
[I would hope there aren't any more messed-up traffic signs, but there probably are. -- DA]
Looks like the painter may have had his nose a little too close to the paint bucket. Those fumes will make you do funny things, from what I hear.
i've seen that on quite a few older pomona streets, around the railroad tracks east of downtown.
i always thought it was from large trucks basically wearing out the roads on hot days.
[Hadn't thought of that, but that makes sense. -- DA]
I've been walking across that intersection weekly for the last year, and I am always chuckling to myself when I see those lines. I do hope that it was a machine malfunction and no one got written up.
I assume that by the end of the week there'll be a throng of Tea Partiers (read: 3) on the corner of College & Arrow protesting this grievous waste of guv'mint paint & claiming that Obama's failure to ensure non-wavy crosswalks for all is evidence that we need to keep healthcare in the hands of the insurance companies.
Did Cheech & Chong enter the private sector on some type of ROP program?
Looks like someone took a little too much Alice D. before painting!
It gets very hot in SoCal, and the hot tar/blacktop flows downhill. This is extreme, but it's pretty common.
