"We hate to leave," Mrs. Provost told the Pomona Progress-Bulletin for this Sept. 14, 1959 story, which was unearthed, scanned and sent to me by Bruce Guter of the Pomona Public Library's special collections department.

(Special collections is as good a friend to this blog as Lassie was to Timmy.)

I can only imagine the angst the poor Provost family must have endured...I know I would never leave Pomona for Beverly Hills!

[Yes, those poor, poor Provosts. -- DA]

Oh how some things never change. My beloved city just doesn't get the credit it deserves...or maybe for now, well, never mind. It was very popular in the late 60's and early 70's for parents of Pomona children to "fudge" an address just so they could go to Claremont High and be a Wolf? They should have been proud to stay in Pomona and be a Viking, Red Devil or Giant! All is forgiven to the Provost family...we will always have my historic adobe.
