'Discard Claremont'?
I know we're living in a throwaway society, but that was never more clear than after Claremont emblazoned its trash trucks with a pro-consumption slogan.

Ah, the circle of life....
I smile whenever that moving sign rumbles down my street. You know, I would probably "shop Claremont" a lot more if I could find parking.
I attended the movie "Death at a Funeral" at the Laemmle a couple weeks ago. I was one of two people in the theater, and it's kind of hard to get the most out of a comedy without an audience. I have been doing my darndest to support this theater, so I think I am doing my part, as an out-of-towner, to shop Claremont. Claremonters, please support the Laemmle. It cannot show foreign movies 100% of the time.
My wife was born and raised in the People's Republic of Claremont and now works "down there." We spend most of our tax dollars in Rancho where we live, but we do make a real effort to share some of the wealth with Claremont. I've had a few issues in the past with some chamber people and the parking does suck, but I love Espiau's, La Picoletta, Pizza n Such...just to name a few. There is plenty of money in Claremont...just wondering where is it all being spent?

My husband just bought a Tundra there last week, so I think that would give us the "Claremont Shopping Championship," if there were one.
Shirley and her husband should at least get a 1 night stay at Howard Johnson's (a 2 night would be cruel & unusual punishment) and breakfast at either BC Cafe or the Mobil station next door...Buy Claremont!

This has to be the same truck that leaves trashcans in the middle of Padua Ave., hanging over the white shoulder/bike white line. It's like negotiating an obstacle course on Mondays. There is a double line down the center of the road. Maybe they are looking for more trash to pick up, i.e. my SUV. The advertising on the sides of the truck seems to put the city in a rather trashy light. Do they need a PR consultant or a course for drivers? Sorry, it would probably require an EIR and public hearings.
