Another bakery to rise in Claremont

A storefront at 2nd and Yale in the Village, previously occupied by a short-lived children’s clothing store, now bears a sign promising Cocoa Bakery. A friend saw a man taping up the sign Monday evening. The interior is completely bare, so I wouldn’t start lining up for bread or anything. The family-owned bakery has one other location, in La Puente.

The Village is already home to Some Crust Bakery and Le Pain Quotidien.

Oh great…another chance to gorge myself in Claremont. But any new bakery can’t be bad, right? Can this one at least attempt chocolate meringue pies? Seems only Marie Callender’s does this these days, and quite well.

I am turning in my proposal to her today! I make “ace of cakes” style cakes, and no storefront. I want to be her subcontractor. There aren’t any in creative cake artists in Claremont, and I do them out of my house. Wish me luck! And yes, I’ll do the chocolate meringue pie for you. :)
