Now that's hot
It was 110 degrees Monday in Ontario. In Upland, Nancy DeWitt put her thermometer in the sun, which is a meteorologocal no-no, and got an even more oppressive reading. At least it's a dry heat.
DeWitt reports: "My poor hubby works for The Gas Co and was out and about driving without air conditioning. Last week he worked in Pismo Beach and it was no problem."
How's the heat treating the rest of you?

I could not believe that the temperature went to 113 degrees in LA yesterday, so I checked back several times, and the report did not change. I have never heard of such a thing, because it is usually ten degrees cooler in the IE. We are not leaving our house until the thermometer goes down.
I look back on Montclair's day at the Fair, September 8. It was the coolest, best weather day that could ever be experienced at the Fair. I think that the Fair must be getting killed this week, their last days. Perhaps the Fair should be held in the month of October.

I see I made a slip--I meant to say that it is usually ten degrees cooler in LA than it is in the IE.
An LA Times item that I read last night said that, when the thermometer hit 113, it broke. Then they panicked and called a repairman. I don't know if it was fixed in time. The article said they will probably never know if it was higher than 113. It was evidently the official temp for downtown LA. Do you know where that official downtown site is located?

I remember feeling sorry for our combat troops in Iraq in the summertime when it was 120 dgrs in full combat gear.
