Xochimilco

I recently posted photos here from Teotihuacan, seen on my Mexico City vacation. Friday's column is about my visit to Xochimilco, a village within Mexico City.
First, here's the San Bernardino de Siena church, where a bell ringer is about to go to work.

And here's our boat, waiting for us at the plant nursery. There was just a short trip from here back to the embarcadero, ending a pleasant two-hour cruise.

I love this stuff! Thank you for posting. It's getting me excited for my first ever trip to Mexico, coming in June, though since we're staying at a resort, I think you had a more authentic trip. Your posts/columns are already making me want to go back (though I haven't even been yet) and see the "real" Mexico.

Long ago, we used to dine often at a restaurant in Pomona by that name, and when I saw your headline, I wondered, "No kidding, is that place still going?"
Your pictures of Mexico make it look inviting. The restroom sign is a hoot. It makes me think of a couple little related stories here, that I would tell, if this were not a public newspaper.
