Bowling for Chino Hills

Has the Chino Valley ever had a bowling alley? There's certainly not one now in Chino or Chino Hills. Bowlers have to journey to Diamond Bar or Montclair for a game. But Chino Hills is getting a bowling alley. It's under construction inside a vacant Vons at Chino Hills Parkway at Pipeline Avenue.

Actually, Chino used to have a 10-lane bowling alley on Central Avenue at Riverside Drive. It was located in a former movie theater and opened in 1960.
I never went inside, but seem to recall seeing the signage and driving past in the late 1970's or 1980's IIRC.

This is like deja vu all over again. It wasn't too many years ago you did a blog entry on the Chino Bowl on Central just south of Riverside Drive. I believe you even had a picture of it. Are you slippin' or what?

Was the Chino Bowling Alley across the street from the Cock-A-Doodle Restaurant? When our kids were young, we used to take them to the Cock-A-Doodle, on Friday nights, and it seems to me, that there was a bowling alley, across the street.

Bowling, smoling....my dearest memories of that great sport is Pom Lanes, down on So. Garey Ave. next to Alpha Beta and Tastee Freeze....anybody want to reply? Or is this fodder for another secret agent Pomona story?
