Bowling for Chino Hills

Has the Chino Valley ever had a bowling alley? There's certainly not one now in Chino or Chino Hills. Bowlers have to journey to Diamond Bar or Montclair for a game. But Chino Hills is getting a bowling alley. It's under construction inside a vacant Vons at Chino Hills Parkway at Pipeline Avenue.

Actually, Chino used to have a 10-lane bowling alley on Central Avenue at Riverside Drive. It was located in a former movie theater and opened in 1960.

I never went inside, but seem to recall seeing the signage and driving past in the late 1970's or 1980's IIRC.

Here is a link from the "Chino Champion" paper, that mentions the 1960 opening (5th paragraph down,) of the Chino Bowl.
