Happy Halloween

The above seems like a short, simple message on a holiday, but I thought the same thing on Columbus Day.

David;

I won't accuse you of insensitivity towards spirits being tortured in the afterlife, or the misrepresentation of vampires, zombies, or monsters in the media.

But don't let council meetings, restaurant closures, and grammatical errors in print scare you too much!

[Whew. I'll try, Will, thanks. -- DA]

I had not seen this Pomona tie-in to Halloween before -- it was mentioned in this morning's Arizona Republic:

Under Roman rule the holiday morphed into a day to remember the dead and celebrate the festival of Pomona, their godess of fruit and trees. Her symbol was an apple and that might be where we got our tradition of bobbing for apples.

[Nice to see Pomona make it into the Arizona Republic. -- DA]

I think you skated by the criticism so far.

Every year at Hallowe'en I have the same quandary. Do I get treats for the kids that I like or that I don't like. The leftovers of the ones I like are sorely tempting.

Booooooo

[I'm a leave-the-porchlight-off guy myself. Boo humbug. -- DA]

Don't worry, Dave, we're all resting up for the Thanksgiving festivities -- sure to be a doozy.

[Oh yes, the inevitable "Happy Thanksgiving" post. I'll brace myself for the reaction. -- DA]
