Happy Thanksgiving

In my latest controversial holiday-related post, I'd like to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving.

What am I grateful for this time of year? I would say my job, my readers, comic books and pie, not necessarily in that order.

Happy Thanksgiving Day. I hope you get plenty of pie.

I will have pumpkin pie--sort of a last meal, before I have to do the unthinkable--figure out a way, to lose weight. But, then, I see Christmas Day, is only one month away--oh well, the second-to-last, meal.

I have a multitude of things, for which I am thankful, but the number one thing--I am thankful, that I was born, and live, in America. That thankfulness will be number one, with me, for the rest, of my life.

Coincidentally, this Thanksgiving Day, will be the 20th Anniversary, of the death, of Freddie Mercury. The Brits don't celebrate Thanksgiving, so there will be much mourning, in England, and the rest of Europe. I am thankful, that there is good preservation, of at least three, of their concerts, on DVD, and, consequently, the opportunity, to see and hear, the greatest frontman, and the greatest band, in the history, of rock music. I will celebrate, with a DVD concert, "Queen in Montreal", Thanksgiving night.

Shirley, don't worry too much about your weight today. Holiday meals have no calories! At least that's what I've been told. After today, think fruit, veggies, and rice cakes. BTDT. (Been there, done that for the uninitiated.)

I'm thankful for my health and the health of my loved ones.

I'm thankful for friends and family, (I'll even try to be thankful for a certain son-in-law that we'll all have to tolerate today) and for the fact that we can get together over a sumptuous meal.

I also grateful that we have homes, jobs, and enough left over to help others who are not so fortunate.

I am very thankful that yesterday's Thanksgiving meal included my hero...my son, Navycorpsman Chris Terry. Last year at this time he was in a remote post in Afghanistan on his 4th overseas tour of duty. He will be leaving in February for #5, but to have him and his 13 mo. old daughter together again is truly a blessing.

Four days late but chiming in: I'm thankful for the usual: family, health, a house over my head, a couple of jobs that don't pay a whole lot but keep me intellectually stimulated and have given me a whole host of good friends. I'm thanksful that my Los Angeles Galaxy won their 3rd Major League Soccer championship. It was worth the drive to Carson in the rain. Right before the game started there was a rainbow over the arena. See, God loves the Galaxy.
