‘Phantom of the Opera’ at Chaffey High

Chaffey High School in Ontario has been performing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Phantom of the Opera” musical in a production that its theater department is calling “lavish” and which, based on the video, seems really to be lavish.

The show ends Sunday. Remaining performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, all at 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Admission: $13. A heckuva lot cheaper than Broadway. Performances are in Gardiner Spring Auditorium, 211 W. 5th St.

All I can think to say is “Daaayyymmm!!!” Lavish, indeed! Does the theatre department raise its own money? My elementary school can’t afford a pallet of paper, yet this show.. I mean… how’d they get the scenery? This is amazing! I’ve seen it once at the Ahmanson Theatre with Michael Crawford, and once in London at the Majestic Theatre. I’m impressed! Very impressed!! 🙂 Well done!

  • WOW is right! I had heard from a work associate that the production was excellent so I took my 9 yr old granddaughter last night. I am a major Phantom fan so have seen many productions including two with Michael Crawford. Whoever this young man is, he is truly amazing….right down to the use of his hands as always made me weak with Crawford. Young Miss Christine was also fabulous. Kudos to these young stars….wish I knew more about them.
