Ice cream lovers who like the Handel's in Upland will be thrilled, and maybe chilled, to learn one is coming to Rancho Cucamonga. I spotted this the other day in the Trader Joe's center at Haven and 19th.

Reader Elizabeth Rynear emailed a couple of days later after seeing the same sign. She said the shop will replace a failed frozen yogurt place.

"So, now we have a Farrell's coming and a Handel's as well," she summed up. "God help my waistline!"

Once one gets hooked, it's pretty hard to stop. I am hooked on Handel's butter pecan, double scoop, with a cake cone. I go to Upland every Wed. when they have single scoops for a dollar. I lamented to a friend who was with me one time that I was going to have to figure out what to do about ice cream day when I start my diet. She retorted that it might help if I had just one scoop. If one does not want to get hooked--stay away from the butter pecan.

With Handel's opening a second store and Farrell's back in the area, I don't think you have to worry about the word "diet". Besides, a scoop (or two) sounds good right now,

I saw this yesterday, along with the double rainbow directly above. I'm ecstatic! Pie next door at Corky's with the ala mode provided by Handels. Now that's a pot of gold at the end of any rainbow. I could go for some chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream right now.

Auuuuggghhh!!!! My endocrinologist is hollering in my head, right now! LOL We live near the Handel's in Upland, but we haven't yet been in. But, let me tell you, I'm SUPER excited about Farrell's!! I haven't been to one since the Whittier store closed when I was 7. I was sooo sad!

I don't remember, do they sell real food, too? LOL

I'll check out Handel's, just don't tell my doctor! :)

[Best time to visit Handel's is a Wednesday. Single scoops $1 all day. -- DA]
