Birthday to me

It was 48 years ago today that I came into this world. Just think of all the marvels I’ve witnessed: the moon landings, microwave ovens, MTV, culottes, specialty coffee, Tide sticks, oversharing, the list goes on and on. Today is a typical workday for me, but maybe I’ll get a slice of chocolate cake at Nancy’s or a $1 cone at Handel’s or something.

    Incidentally, when Column Boy grows up, does he evolve into Article Man?

    Happy Birthday, David. We all hate to add those extra numbers, to our age, but it’s great to have an excuse, to feel special, and treat ourselves accordingly, at least one day, out of each year. Today, I will be at Handels, too, after the usual Wednesday movie, at the Laemmle. I don’t suppose we will be there at the same time, but if we are, I will gladly pay your dollar too. Don’t forget–the butter pecan is to die for!

    I was all prepared to make a wacky coulotte comment, but the combination of Another Lois beating me to the proverbial punch plus the indelible mental image of you blowing out the candles whilst clad in culottes & matching Members Only jacket convinced me that there’s nothing I could add that would improve upon what’s already been expressed here on that topic.

    So, I’ll just wish you a grand day today, & offer my heartfelt hope that your next 48 are even more fun & fulfilling than the previous 48 have been!

    Oh… and happy birthday! I said so on facebook but meant to do the same here. Six days late, and the blog post is off the main page… but still counts!! I hope? Last year I gave two six-months-late birthday cards to a couple of friends… By that reckoning, six days is an improvement!
