CiCi’s Pizza commercial in Pomona

Two readers, Jaime and Don, separately told me a CiCi’s Pizza commercial was filmed in downtown Pomona, Don after observing the filming in January and Jaime after watching the finished product on TV weeks later. I’d never heard of CiCi’s Pizza and barely watch TV anyway, so this news didn’t do much for me.

But eventually I decided to look for the commercial online. It’s clearly in downtown Pomona. As one commenter says on YouTube: “I saw this being filmed. We were wondering why a pig was hanging out of the sunroof and window. They filmed all day. It was at 3rd and Main in Pomona CA.”

You can see the full commercial here, but all the Pomona stuff is in the embedded video above. So now I sort of know what CiCi’s Pizza is, but I still don’t think I’ve ever seen one.

CiCi’s is buffet-style pizza – I’ve never been but I’ve seen the ads. And I’ve seen this ad, too, but never recognized it as Pomona!

There is a CiCi’s at 4200 Chino Hills Parkway, according to the website. You could review it for us if you reviewed chains, although maybe since it’s the only local one it might qualify for review. Either way, it’s a good excuse to try their pizza!

I’ve been to CiCi’s and even though their prices are super cheap, so is their food. Blech. Not worth it in my opinion.

I grew up in Texas and CiCi’s was awesome. It used to be $3.99 for all you can eat pizza, salad and pasta and $1 extra for the soda fountain. Perhaps not the best pizza but it was very good for the kid and teen crowd. Great memories.

Cici’s is ok for what it is. We first ate there in AZ a few years ago and it was decent enough to go back. We have yet to go to the one in Chino Hills. It’s cheap pizza nothing more.

Tried the CiCi’s in Chino Hills and while the pizza wasn’t all that great, it WAS inexpensive. I did like their Mac and Cheese pizza, and interesting take on a pie.

Did you notice the traffic signal hanging from a cable in the photo? To my knowledge, the intersection of Main and 3rd is controlled by stop signs. I wonder why they would take the time to add that element (maybe it is an overhead camera disguised as a traffic signal?). Anyway, it was fun to see fleeting bits of downtown Pomona on film.

[That’s odd! You’re right, that’s not a signalized intersection. Your thought that it’s a camera is a logical deduction. — DA]
