Candidly candied

After trying out Upland’s new Italian restaurant downtown, Aria, with his wife, reader Ken Brock sends along the above menu description of his item, the spinach salad. Matching the walnuts for candor, Brock reports: “I can tell you honestly that I’ve never had such a sincere and truthful salad.”

As much as I appreciate a sincere salad, I believe that to create the best of all possible salads, you need to look for an ingredient imported from Westphalia: candide walnuts.

Perhaps this will spread throughout the entire nut community, and we will see even more transparency in nuts!

How appropriate that there are candid nuts in the City of Gracious Scandals. I hear the legumes there can be quite sarcastic. I wonder if they offer the same “special salad” that they have at Antonino’s…not to be confused with the “big salad.”
