Readers don’t phone it in for the 909′s anniversary

Friday’s column (read it here) begins with a followup to the 20th anniversary of the 909 area code’s inception. Following that are short news items, some about local restaurants coming and going, and an item about Pomona’s Measure T, whose main proponent says it wasn’t about what I said it was about.

its a shame that Red Hill is gone. It was a dump and the food I’m mixed about it, but it did have a lot of character.

      Agreed.

    David,

FYI: The new Fallas in Montclair is not the first in the area. There is a newly built one on Holt at Caswell (across the street from the Ebell) here in Good Ol’ Pomona. This was originally planned as a Fashion4Less, but the economic downturn caused major delays in construction and when it finally opened a few months ago it opened as a Fallas.

Thanks, John. I haven’t seen that site since construction ended and didn’t know the store was there. Pomona doesn’t show up on the Fallas website’s store locator function.

Crate and Barrel in VG has closed. Next closest one is Pasadena or Costa Mesa =(

That’s old news, Andy. I think the DB had a front-page story on it.
