Furniture replaces fiction in Montclair

Wednesday’s column┬ábegins with news that a favorite former hangout of mine, Borders in Montclair, is set to become a furniture store. (Yawn.) Also, readers school me about the old Convair (not Corvair) plant in Pomona, new Pomona council members are sworn in, and we learn about two new restaurants headed to Claremont.

Borders will be missed. I hope the lone book store we have left at the Plaza will survive. The furniture store is a baby step forward, of many needed. If only the Plaza owners would put a new anchor in the old Broadway Building…….

There will hopefully be some good news on that front shortly after the holidays – stay tuned.

The upper floor of the old Broadway at the Puente hills mall was turned into a combo pool hall-karaoke bar-bowling alley-arcade-pizza parlor. Would local teens frequent such a place?
