Column: Bankruptcy closes Upland’s Buffalo Inn, possibly forever

Friday’s column is about the Buffalo Inn, a Route 66 restaurant and tavern that’s been serving the public since 1929. It’s been closed by a bankruptcy trustee, the owners locked out, and with developers hovering, it’s in question whether it will reopen.

Also, I’ve got items from Ontario and Claremont, and about Free Comic Book Day.

I’ll be out of town this weekend and probably won’t have a chance to swing by a comic book store, but if you do, and you happen to see a comic book with the words “Doctor Who” and “free” on the cover, feel free to pick one up!

Warning: Do not buy from Empire Nissan!!!!!!

I bought 3 cars from Empire Nissan. I am so dissapointed in them Hopefully by sharing my experience people with think twice before they choose to shop at Empire Nissan .
We bought the car last June and in late August 2014 we were hit on the freeway by a 250 Dodge Ram . We had a 2014 Rogue .We were hurt and the car was totaled out. We had made only one car payment before it was totaled out.
When we bought the Rogue We also purchased a gap insurance policy through Empire Nissan . Owner Guard was the gap insurance . The day after the accident we went to speak to the dealorship about our loss. Our salesman called Owner guard to let them know our car was a total loss. Our salesman said I will take care of you don’t worry , don’t worry about it , your covered you have gap insurance. We believed everything was taken care of. After 3 months we got a nasty letter from the finance company. They wanted their money . We thought it was all taken care of , according to our salesman. Our Basic car insurance paid off immediately but NOT owner guard. Our new car lost $8,000.00 by just driving it off the lot, that was the difference the gap insurance is supposed to pay.
We called OwnerGuard they said that we needed to send in some paperwork , we did .they claimed they never recieved it. We sent it again and again.they kept saying they didn’t receive it. We then mailed registered. Owner Guard said they did not get that either.
I contacted my attorney he contacted owner Guard and Empire Nissan and neither one will return his the call . My attorney called john the general manager of Empire Nissan . After all this our credit is ruined because the finance company put us in default. All because Owner Guard will not pay . Nissan is selling this horrible product , I thought they would be more conciderate , accept responsibility , and take care of it. Here we are May 2015 and still no word. Empire Nissan is clearly irresponsible , unprofessional and I would not recommend them at all in fact , I say, stay away from Empire Nissan.
Since Nissan sold us the policy . I expected some courteous help but Not From Empire Nissan.
Warning : do not shop with Empire Nissan . They do not stand behind their products.

Everyone was so nice and concerned .

An era passes. A favorite spot bites the dust. Sorry to see it go.

Only ate there once (maybe that’s why they’re in financial trouble!?) but I’ll be sorry not to see the sign when passing on Foothill.

I can remember a rambling discussion with someone as to whether actual buffalo meat was served.
