Spirited spelling

Parked for tacos in Pomona, my eye was caught by the sign next door. The sign painter got lost while painting the word “spirituality.” Or maybe the Pomona version is better than plain, old, garden-variety spirituality.

That’s hilarious! I’ve driven by there a number of times and never looked closely enough to notice that.

As a print designer, I can’t tell you how many clients have carefully proofread the text of whatever I’ve designed for them, and completely overlooked the error in the headline!

You posted this on your Twit 15 April, with spirirituality as the title, and I still missed it. But that is not only due to a common habit of not actually reading long words, but recognizing them, but that my attention was grabbed by the address on Emission (Avenue I think). Emission is a real word, and in my engineering career I calculated (and occasionally measured) emission many times, mostly at infrared wavelengths. During a major portion of that career, my business address was 1750 West Mission Pomona.

      W. Mission, E. Mission, let’s call the whole thing off.
