Column: A visit to Auschwitz, a site of horrors unimaginable

During my vacation to Krakow, I took a somber side trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest of the concentration camps. That’s the subject of Sunday’s not-exactly-cheerful column.

Pretty cool account of a plain morbid European museum thing. The thing that kind of lost me was all the poetic type wording in the essay/ column. But something so stark, I guess needs a little livety for balance.and the lives lost in history should still be respected. I think I canceled myself out. Oops

Thanks. I wouldn’t have minded adding some levity but didn’t have enough time to rewrite and think it through. Like, a couple took a selfie, which we were specifically asked not to do. And the guide was a low talker and thus was very hard to hear and understand. But those were minor points in the scheme of things and It seemed better to play the column straight.
