Column: Kicks achieved at Fair’s Route 66 exhibit

I visited the LA County Fair’s “Mother Road” exhibit, which replicates highlights along Route 66 in all eight states. Lots of fun. The Fair ends Sunday! It’s the subject of my Friday column.

The Montclair Senior Center did not provide free transportation as in previous years, so I did not go and was bemoaning the fact that I would miss my favorite attraction, “Jurassic Planet”. Someone just informed me that “JP” was not at the fair this year. Now, that is what I would call, “outrageous”–how could they!

Well, Fair attendance was up without the dinosaurs — so there you go.

Go figure. I don’t know why people would rather see a classic car than a dinosaur. We see the classic cars on our streets all the time, giving me the urge to kick myself for being so dumb when we had them, not having a thought about their future value. I hope whoever has our 47 Ford Coup, 1955 Bel Air, our 1961 Impala, our 1952, 98 Olds convertible, and our 1973 Caprice were better to them after we dumped them like they were nothing!. I wonder if there will be classic car attractions for people to flock to in another million years.
