Column: Respect paid to Nino Ruggeri, 50 years after death

I follow up on my recent column on the young man from Ontario who was killed in Vietnam 50 years ago. His family and friends held a private graveside service for him and invited me. That story is Sunday’s column.

I vaguely remember the Roma Italian Restaurant on Central in Montclair. It was managed or owned by the brother Tony–it was possible completely separate from the Roma Pizza Restaurant. We ate at the Roma Italian Restaurant a couple times. I think Tony was a candidate for Montclair City Council somewhere along the way–according to your column, it had to be prior to 2001.

The same place, I think, and Tony apparently ran it after his parents retired.

David, read your article about NIno and googled to find more about him. I then found your story about the memorial service service his family and friends held for him. I’m heartbroken for him and his loved ones. He sounded like such a wonderful person.

      Thank you, Jude.
