Firefighters quickly doused an apartment fire today at the Willowtree complex in Torrance.

Neighbors in the 4400 block of Pacific Coast Highway called for help at 12:40 p.m. when they saw the blaze, Torrance fire Capt. Steve Deuel said.

Thirty-four firefighters knocked down the flames in about five minutes. The occupants were not home.

Damage to the apartment was estimated to be about $70,000.

No other apartments suffered damage and no one was hurt.
