Sonic booms over the South Bay

| | Comments (3)
If you heard two sonic booms at about 5:47 p.m. today you heard Space Shuttle Discovery flying over the South Bay just before it landed safely at Edwards Air Force Base.

The shuttle was returning from a 14-day resupply mission to the International Space Station. Discovery was diverted from landing in Florida because of bad weather.

It was a lot louder when it landed 30 miles from my home in Palmdale. I lived in the South Bay from 1955 to 1992. Lived in Lennox, Hawthorne, Torrance and The LA Strip.

Wow It was really loud, shook my windows...neighbors were like did a bomb go off or something lol

OOOOOHHH! So that was what it was. There were two big booms, and it literally jolted the glass, and I thought it maybe was an earthquake.
