Torrance firefighters are currently battling a small blaze at a single-family residence near the corner of Artesia Boulevard and Kornblum Avenue.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation, said Sgt. Martin Vukotic of the Torrance Police Department, which is providing traffic assistance to the city fire department.

"The situation is under control," Vikotic said, adding that streets were currently being reopened.

The fire was reported at 1:06 p.m.

Firefighters have knocked down a fire aboard a boat about two miles west of the Venice pier and are searching the water for anyone who might have jumped in, county fire Inspector Frederic Stowers said.

The fire was reported at 4:48 p.m. Lifeguards and firefighters responded in boats.

No one knows if anyone was on board. Dive teams are on their way to search the water.
