Police have released an updated sketch of a man sought for robbing a Hermosa Beach Jewelry store earlier this month. During the robbery, the suspect tied up the owner of the store, located at 1200 Pacific Coast Highway.
According to police, the suspect entered the store and pulled out what was believed to be a small caliber machine gun. The owner, who was not hurt, was taken to the rear of the business. The suspect then ordered the victim to kneel, covered his face and bound his hands and feet with duct tape before pushing him to the floor face down.
While the suspect searched the store, he continuously yelled "Turn around, don't look at me," police said.
The victim told police he heard another person enter the store and ransack it.
The suspects ran off with $500 in cash and several wedding bands and gold chains.
Police are searching for a black male, between 25 to 35 years old, weighing 250 to 270 pounds, about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a spiked afro and "sleepy/droopy eyes," according to a press release issued Thursday by Hermosa Beach police.
The suspect was wearing a faded black pullover sweatshirt and dark jeans during the incident.
The second suspect was not seen by the victim.
