Spanoulis entonces llevó la pelota hacia arriba con ocho segundos e intentó un triple para ganar el juego. Felizmente para Argentina, el tiro chocó en el frente del aro, rebotó hacia el interior, pero golpeo en e3 tablero y cayó hacia el lado.
Todavía habían unos segundos cuando la pelota cayó abajo del aro en medio de un lago de jugadores griegos y argentinos, pero Scola agarró el balon y Grecia no tuvo tiempo de cometer una falta.
