Stephon Marbury fue mandado a la nada el lunes. Le dijeron que se aleje de los Knicks de New York hasta que puedan determinar una manera de deshacerse de él.
Marbury no estuvo satisfecho con la oferta de los Knicks para comprar el resto de su contrato y se pasó sólo 15 minutos discutiendo la situación. Su abogado, Hal Biagas, se pasó 20 minutos más con el presidente del equipo, Donnie Walsh, antes de salir a declarar que una resolución no había sido alcanzada.
Walsh dio una declaración: "Luego de reunirme con Stephon y su representante esta tarde, le hemos dicho que no participe en las prácticas o que vaya a los juegos hasta que le indiquemos lo contrario. Queremos seguir reuniéndonos con él para discutir una resolución a largo plazo."
