Oh, happy day...fresh&easy is coming my way!

OK, we know it's only a grocery store, but we here at Dine 909 are big fans of fresh&easy.

We're well aware of the f&e-haters out there. We know that parent company Tesco is thought of as the Wal-Mart of the U.K.

We know all that, and yet we still like fresh&easy, just as we liked Chipotle Mexican Grill when they were owned by McDonald's.
For those who have never been to fresh&easy, it's like Trader Joe's without the hippie-dippiness.

It's basically a small grocery store, with lots of store-brand items. Their milk and butter comes from cows not treated with rBST and their butter comes from cage-free chickens. They also have a selection of refrigerated (not frozen) prepared foods. That's the fresh.

You scan and bag your own groceries, so you can get in and out in a hurry. That's the easy.

Their prices are pretty reasonable and they carry items you wouldn't normally see in your local grocery chain, like Greek-style yogurt.

So why am I so happy?

The Fontana fresh&easy store at 16049 Baseline Avenue, Unit 1, is opening today!

Until now, to get to a fresh&easy, I had to drive to Yucaipa, Moreno Valley or Upland.

The store in Fontana will be the closest one to me until they open up the one in Loma Linda, which should be very soon...they're hiring for that store now.

If you haven't been to fresh&easy yet, you should give it a try. Perhaps I'll see you there...I'm on my way right now!
