Here are just a few random Inland Empire food-related tidbits that have landed in the Dine 909 inbox recently:

  • Caf y pan y ms

From 2 to 6 p.m. this Sunday (October 11), the Mountain Avenue Assembly of God, Redeemer’s Mission (Mision El Redentor) Spanish Assembly of God and Camino de Fe (Way of Faith) churches are hosting a “Festival del Caf” (Festival of Coffee)
and “Festival del Pan” (Festival of Bread) at 1951 S. Mountain
Avenue (between Philadelphia and Francis streets) in South Ontario.

The celebration is free and no donations of any kind will be accepted.

On the menu: Pozole and a selection of Brazilian dishes.

Also, many
community organizations and businesses will be offering free services at the event.

  • Pasta for charity

The Sons of Italy
West End Lodge #2127 is hosting its second annual pasta dinner
fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, October 24 at the Central Park
Senior Center, 11200 Base Line Road (at Base Line), Rancho Cucamonga.

Tickets are $10 and are available in advance at Antonino’s Italian Ristorante, 8045 Vineyard Ave. (at Foothill Boulevard) in Rancho Cucamonga.

Proceeds
will benefit various local and national charities, as well as provide
for scholarships. Among the local charities that will benefit is the
Loma Linda University Medical Center Birth Defects Library.

  • Sevilla announces their Thanksgiving menu

Sevilla of Riverside, 3252 Mission Inn Ave., has announced the menu for this year’s Thanksgiving feast:

First Course Choices

Pumpkin Cream Soup with Manchego Crouton or
Autumn Market Salad with Cabrales blue cheese dressing

Entree Choices

Bone-in Hand-Carved Black Forest Ham baked with Quince Glaze or
Roasted Ranch Turkey Breast with Traditional Stuffing and Cranberry Sauce or
Roasted Leg of Lamb with Honey Port Wine Sauce


Dessert

Pumpkin & White Chocolate Bavarian Cream Cake with Caramel Mocha
Sauce

The special three-course Thanksgiving feast is $27.95 (plus tax and tip), and the full
menu is also available for a la carte orders. Children under 12 enjoy a
modified menu (any entre and and ice cream dessert) for $12.95.

Sevilla will open at noon. Live rumba and Flamenco guitarists will perform in the Tapas Bar from 1 to 4 p.m.

  • Be creEATive at Souplantation

All this month, the folks at Souplantation are hosting a contest to crEATe new menu items.

All you have to to is invent an original dish using two to five Souplantation menu items and then post your entries via the contest Web site (where you’ll find current entries), Facebook page or email.

Ten finalists will be chosen in November and each will receive meal passes.

Guests
will be invited to vote online for their favorite finalist in December
and the winner will be announced in January. The winning recipe and
‘chef’ will win a year’s worth of free passes and the chance to be
featured in an upcoming ad.

Everyone who enters gets a discount coupon. You’ve got until October 31 to participate.

  • Pumpkin pie + ice cream = Yum!

Dairy Queen’s Blizzard of the Month for October is…Pumpkin Pie!

The Pumpkin Pie Blizzard is made with Libby’s pumpkin pie mix and pieces of flaky pie crust blended with creamy DQ vanilla soft serve and capped with whipped topping and a sprinkle of nutmeg.

It’s available at all Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill restaurants nationwide.

The average retail price of the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard is $3.09 for the 12 ounce, $3.49 for the 16 ounce and $3.99 for the 21 ounce.

Also, many Blizzard flavors, including Pumpkin Pie, can be made into cakes, perfect for
celebrating special occasions such as Halloween and birthdays. The average price of a Blizzard cake is $21.49 for the eight-inch and $23.69 for the 10-inch.
