Get the door, it's Domino's the Los Angeles County Fire Department!

We should all know by now that when the time changes from daylight saving time back to standard time (as it will this year on November 1) -- and vice versa, that should be a reminder to check the batteries in your fire alarms.

On Tuesday, October 20, Domino's Pizza and the Los Angeles County Fire Department in the city of Claremont are teaming up to help remind you to test your fire alarms.

On that day, if you order a pizza between 6:30 to 8 p.m. from the Domino's store at 366 W. Foothill Blvd., in Claremont, don't be surprised if your pizza arrives accompanied by firefighters aboard a fire engine.
And if your house is one of those randomly selected during that time for a visit from L.A. County firefighters, and all smoke detectors in your home are working, your pizza is free.

That's right, free.

If the smoke detectors inside the house are not working, the firefighters will replace the batteries and leave the home with fully functioning detectors. The batteries will be provided by Domino's Pizza.

In other words: Free batteries, no free pizza.

Either way, you come out a winner.

Think about it this way: Which would you rather have? A free Domino's pizza or an early warning when your house is on fire so that you've got a better chance of getting your family out of harm's way?

I think you all know the answer to that.

The phone number to the Domino's pizza at 366 W. Foothill Blvd., Claremont, is (909) 398-0404.
