So long, Tacone and China Palace

From reader Scott in R.C. comes the news that Victoria Gardens has lost another eatery: Tacone Flavor Grill.

I never figured out how to pronounce that. Is it pronounced tah-cone-ee or tah-cone? Either way, it's no longer there.

It's still listed on Tacone's Web site, but gone from Victoria Gardens'.

There may or may not still be a Tacone near the Lake Elsinore outlet mall (17600 Collier Ave., #147-A) for those who have a craving and are willing to drive. It's listed on Tacone's Web site, but....

Also, I noticed the other day that the China Palace Buffet at 2035 E Highland Ave., # C (at Sterling Avenue) had closed. It looked like it had been closed for some time, actually.

China Palace had been in business for a very long time. Kinda surprising that it finally closed. It wasn't the best Chinese buffet in town, but it would do in a pinch.

Of course, that center at the southwest corner of Sterling and Highland avenues has had its share of closures. Recently, the Staples that was there relocated to Greenspot Road near the new Lowe's.

About the only major businesses left are Bank of America and Kragen Auto Parts.

For those craving a decent and inexpensive Chinese buffet, head east to the Open Kitchen buffet at 4160 Highland Ave., # E (at Boulder Avenue) in Highland.

I've had pretty good experiences there, and they have a few items not typically found at other Chinese buffets.

Kuwi,

Probably easier to go to the listing on the VG website to let you know what is left for the restaurants at http://www.victoriagardensie.com/go/dirListing.cfm?CurrCat=2138210047
and the food court listing is http://www.victoriagardensie.com/go/dirListing.cfm?CurrCat=2138210049

Hopefully that helps you out.
