Amapola debuts weekend buffet

A short while back, Amapola Rico Taco began offering an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet on Saturdays and Sundays at two of its San Bernardino locations -- 1279 W. Base Line (at Mount Vernon Avenue) and 1060 Harriman Ave.

I'd been to Amapola in the past and have to admit I hadn't been impressed.

However, this past weekend, I headed to the Base Line location to give the buffet a try.

The verdict?

Great food. Better price.

The buffet is loaded with Mexican delicacies, including menudo, chilaquiles, tamales, enchiladas, chorizo con huevos y papas, machaca, chile verde, carne asada and albóndigas.

I enjoyed almost everything I tried.
The food was very good, but the best part?

The price.

It's only $8.95 for adults and $4.25 for kids. And that includes coffee or soda.

If you only want menudo, it'll only cost you $7.25. Trust me...pay the extra $1.70 and get the full Monte.

Apparently, word has already spread, since the dining room was mostly full the whole time we were there.

The buffet is offered from 7 a.m. until about 2 p.m.

If you've already been to Amapola's buffet, or decide to give it a try, feel free to comment below.

Amapola's has always been one of my favorite places to go for authentic Mexican food. Their green sauce is wonderful!

If you're going for the first time, it can be rather surprising. Gang kids, cops, working middle class citizens, all enjoying nothing more than simply great food.

The buffet makes the experience even better!

As I mentioned in the post, I'd been there before, but it never really did anything for me. Maybe it was what I was ordering. I thought the buffet, however, was great! I'm curious to try the Harriman location to see if the quality is the same as at the original on Base Line.
