Take a walk on the wine side

In one of the more unique fundraisers I’ve seen in a while, the Big Bear Lake Village Business Association will be hosting its second Wine Walk on from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday (July 24) in the downtown Big Bear Lake Village shopping district.

The event combines shopping and wine tasting as you stumble wander from store to store. Two great things that, um, go great together?

The association is expecting up to 500 locals and visitors to attend the fundraiser.

Participating stores include:

  • Hunter Hall’s, 40728 B Village Drive
  • Home Warehouse Design Center, 40729 #14 Village Drive
  • Cedar Rose Lane, 40729 #7 Village Drive
  • Charleze Unique Boutique, 40729 #3 Village Drive
  • Tradewinds, 40729 #11 Village Drive
  • Paisley Boutique, 672 #1 Pine Knot Ave.
  • Room to Room, 40768 Village Drive

  • Belladonna Clothing, 40729 Village Drive
  • Nottingham’s, 40797 Lakeview Drive
  • Bear Skins, 634 B Pine Knot Ave.

In addition to wine tasting, many of the stores will be serving hors d’uvre. Bear Skins will be a non-alcoholic tasting site.

Presale tickets for the event are $20 and can be purchased at Home Warehouse Design Center, Hunter Hall’s, Cedar Rose, Room to Room and Paisley Boutique.

Tickets will be sold on the day of the event for $25.

Ticket purchase includes a keepsake wine glass, a map of pouring sites, tasting tickets and a raffle ticket. Ticket purchasers must be 21 years or older.

A portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated to the Bear Valley Unified School District.

Check-in will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Village Mall next to Home Warehouse Design Center. The raffle drawing will be held at the conclusion of the walk.

Another wine walk will be held on September 18, in conjunction with the Big Bear Lake International Film Festival.
