Donate $5 (or more) to help fight hunger, get a free slice of cheesecake

The Cheesecake Factory has teamed up with Feeding America (and American Idol Live!) to help raise funds for the hunger-relief charity, in preparation for the upcoming Hunger Action Month in September.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1) Go to the Cheesecake Factory/Feeding America/American Idol Live!’s Share Your Voice website.

Step 2) Click the “Donate now” button.

Step 3) Donate $5 or more to Feeding America.

Step 4) Wait for your e-slice to arrive (the fine print says it could take up to 48 hours).

Step 5) Head to Cheesecake Factory and enjoy your slice of cheesecake!

The best part (besides the free cheesecake, of course) is that since Feeding America has a local presence (as the Second Harvest Food Bank serving Riverside and San Bernardino counties), part of your donation will be used to feed hungry families here in the Inland Empire.

Also good news is that any amount (minus the $7.50 value of the cheesecake slice) is fully tax deductible. Donate $20 and you can write $12.50 off your taxes.

According to Feeding America’s website, every dollar that you donate helps them provide nine pounds of food and grocery products to men, women and children facing hunger in our country.

Inland Empire Cheesecake Factory locations can be found in Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside and Rancho Mirage.
