The new(ish) Paisano’s — same as it ever was

So I went to Ontario International Airport on Monday to pick up a friend who was returning from a weekend in Las Vegas.

We had talked earlier about going to lunch at either Ontario Mills or Victoria Gardens after I picked him up. I suggested going to Paisano’s in Victoria Gardens, since I haven’t had a chance to visit them since they relocated there from their north Fontana location earlier this year.

Turns out that was an excellent choice.

With the move and all, it’s probably been about a year since I’d been to Paisano’s.

The food doesn’t seem to have changed at all, and that’s a very good thing.

I was debating on whether to get the pesto pasta or the gnocchi, and I settled on the gnocchi, while my friend went with the penne with pesto.

My gnocchi were done to perfection, and the accompanying marinara cream sauce was outstanding. The bite I had of the pesto pasta was very fresh-tasting.

I’d always enjoyed the food at their former location, and it’s good to know that the quality is still there.

However, I feel the need to take them to task over a few things…

First, please correct the spelling of angel hair pasta on your menus and your website. Seriously? Spelling it “angle hair” just makes you look stupid.

Your to-go menus still have the Fontana address on them. At the very least, you should print out a sheet of labels with the new address and have the host or hostess spend an hour sticking those over the old address. Another simple fix.

Also, would it kill you to offer a few weekday lunch specials? Your prices are reasonable, but I was kind of surprised that you didn’t offer even a small lunch menu.

OK, rant over.

Obviously, none of these small imperfections should dissuade you from trying this excellent Italian restaurant. If you’re ever over at Victoria Gardens, I encourage you to give them a try if you haven’t already done so.

Paisano Ristorante Italiano is at 12574 North Main Street in Rancho Cucamonga, near the entrance to the AMC Theatres, regardless of what their to-go menus say.
