Rancho Zendejas to reappear

Those Zendejas restaurants seemingly have as many lives as a cat.

The Colton restaurant closed in August 2009 and reopened in May of this year.

The Rancho restaurant, formerly located in the shopping center on the northeast corner of Foothill Boulevard and Vineyard Avenue, closed about two years ago and is set to reopen in a new location next month.

The new location is in the shopping center just to the east of the old location.

Rancho Cucamonga city reporter and Dine 909 contributor Wendy Leung fills in the details in her story which can be found here.

However, regular followers of Dine 909 knew about the move back in June, didn't we?

Thanks for the recognition John, but this other one has me stumped. There are so many Zendejas siblings, etc. that they might wind up being the Starbucks of the I.E. So what's the "scoop" on the old Las Campanas? Not another Zendejas evil offshoot?

Yea, my neighbor says he saw the Zendejas banner over at Las Campanas and I swore he must have been mistaken.(Wendy didn't have anything to say when I commented about that on her blog :))

There was a banner that had the listed realtor over the Las Campanas name, but the banner has since been removed. It would be nice to get someone into that beautiful building, but can't imagine it would be Zendejas.

I agree with Scott in RC. I can't imagine that the former Las Campanas would become a Zendejas, especially with one just down the street.

I've sent an email to Wendy to find out if she's heard anything about it.

Thanks for the updates!

What's the big shock? This is great! Zendejas is a fast growing family operated restaurant. They have the greatest mexican food, drinks, and a great place to hang out. This restaurant is hoping to open some time in December and the location is perfect. Hope to see you there and hope you enjoy there fine food and drinks.

My family and I visited the new site (old Las Campanas), boy were we disappointed by many things. For only being open two weeks, I was shocked by the lack of care and $$$ not put into reopening the site. Windows filthy, booths beat up and worn, walls chipped and obviously not painted since the closure of Las Campanas. The brunch way overpriced for what they served. It wasn't a true brunch since there was no breakfast available, should have been called a lunch buffet. The buffet was way over priced ($15.95) not including beverages, compared to El Torito which has a champagne brunch serving omelettes, fresh made to order tacos and beverages are included in the price. The food was not restocked quick enough, the server was not on top of keeping up with refills and the manager was not effective in communication. We thought we would give this location a try although we hated the former Vineyard location because it was dirty, run down and poor customer service. Sounds like this one will follow in it's footsteps. It is quite obvious that they opened this location with not enough money to start the business, possibly hoping to gain revenue by opening prematurely to get some cash in at the expense of their customers. But I don't anticipate that they will reinvest - what a shame for such a beautiful building. False advertisement - there were no mariachis. They will continue to business in the Zendejas style - ghetto!!!
