Redlands’ Hangar 24 Craft Brewery is getting ready to roll out the barrel on the first beer in its Barrel Roll series.

Hangar 24 created their Immelmann: Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Porter by taking their Chocolate Porter and aging it longer than six months in one-use Oak Bourbon Barrels.

The Immelmann can either be consumed right away or can continue to age.

It’s being packaged like Champagne…in 750 mL cork and cage finished bottles. Only around 1,000 bottles are being produced.

How can you get your hands on this limited-run beer?

Follow the jump to find out.

  • The pre-sale begins Wednesday (December 8) at 4 p.m. You’ll be able to purchase up to three bottles at $20 a pop. You’ll have to pay when you reserve your bottles, but you’re guaranteed to receive them when pickup day arrives. Wednesday also marks the return of Hangar 24’s Winter Warmer beer, made with Angelus Oaks spruce tips, Wisconsin maple syrup and Saigon cinnamon. Mmm…spruce tips!
  • Release day is Saturday, December 18. Beginning at 11 a.m., remaining bottles will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Limit is again three bottles. Price remains $20 a bottle.
  • A very limited quantity will be released to select local liquor stores on Monday, December 20.

This is just the first, limited release in Hangar 24’s Barrel Roll series of barrel-aged beers. They plan on releasing one or two beers in the series each year.

Hangar 24 is at 1710 Sessums Drive in Redlands.

Update: The pre-sale sold out in two hours! Remaining bottles expected to go fast on Saturday (December 18). Good luck!
