I’m not sure how long this deal has been going, or how much longer it’s going to be offered, but on Tuesdays, Magic Wok is offering a single-entre bowl for only $2.
I discovered the deal when we went to Redlands’ Citrus Plaza to check out the new Cafe Rio.
As crowded as the new restaurant was, the older one next door was equally so.
I guess to compete in this economy, you’ve got to be willing to slash and burn your prices.
For one day, anyway.
The regular price for the bowl is $4.64, so on Tuesdays you save 57 percent.
Yesterday I went to check it out for myself.
It’s a bit of a phenomenon. The line snakes around the interior of the restaurant, so be prepared to wait a little.
Most people were ordering multiple bowls, and at that price, who could blame them?
I’d been to Magic Wok before and found them a little middle-of-the-road, but likely due to the constant refreshing of the steam tables, I was very pleased with my order.
The fried rice was fresh and flavorful and my entre, while not the best Chinese food I’ve ever eaten, was much better than previous visits.
Magic Wok is a small chain, with locations in Chino Hills, La Verne, Fontana, Chino, Pomona, Corona and Norco. The Redlands location is at 27510 Lugonia Ave., Suite C.
