99 Ranch Market neighbors raising a stink about odors

Rancho Cucamonga reporter (and sometime Dine 909 contributor) has been following the saga of the 99 Ranch Market at 9775 Base Line, which opened at the end of last year.

The market’s neighbors are complaining of foul odors coming from the market’s hot deli. An Air Quality Management District inspector ranked the odors at a 4 or 4.5 out of 5, with a 5 being smells so bad that they cause physical discomfort.

On May 14, the market suspended its deep-frying, rotisserie and stir-frying operations, limiting cooking procedures to steaming, boiling and stewing.

A preliminary proposal asks the market to document deep-fryer operations and limits the time the rotisserie oven and deep-fryers can be used.

The proposal also calls for the market suspend deep-frying if more than two odor complaints are received in one day.

However, today that proposal appears to have been withdrawn.
