Oh, thank Heaven! There's a new 7-Eleven in my neighborhood

There's a new 7-Eleven in your neighborhood, if your neighborhood happens to be north San Bernardino.

The convenience store just opened up at 3993 Sierra Way (at 40th Street).

They're having a grand opening from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (July 9), with a Slurpee drinking contest at 12:30 p.m. and a hot dog eating contest at 1:30 p.m.

An official ribbon-cutting will be held at noon.

They're also promising face painting, free Slurpees, raffles and giveaways, live bands performance by the West Coast School of Rock, DJs from PWR FM, 50ยข hot dogs, a clown and Laker Girls.

Just don't get brain freeze!

Update: This 7-Eleven has gone green! This location has the chain's first electric car charging station. The event will include the Nissan Leaf electric car.
