Inland Empire gets $50,000 to help fight hunger…thank you!

If you’ve been following this blog on Facebook, Twitter or Google+ the last week or so, you know we’ve been pushing folks to vote to include the Inland Empire in part of $2 million the Walmart Foundation was giving to help fight hunger in areas hard-hit by unemployment.

Well, that pestering paid off.

While we didn’t win the Fighting Hunger Together campaign’s $1 million top prize, we did get one of the 20 second-prizes, worth $50,000.

We came in dead last in that group of 21, but the fact that we were one of the top 21 spots is the only thing that counts.

Beneficiaries include Second Harvest Food Bank for San Bernardino and Riverside counties and Riverside Meals on Wheels.

A note on the Facebook voting app page indicates to return on May 15 for additional news.

A big, big, BIG Dine 909 thanks to all of you who voted!
