Concert to help celebrate 75 years of Mitla Cafe

In 1937, FDR was still in office. Amelia Earhart disappeared. The Golden Gate Bridge opened. Former Secretary of State Colin Powell was born. The first cartoon featuring Daffy Duck debuted. World War II was still a few years away.

San Bernardino’s Mitla Cafe opened.

After 75 years in business, Mitla Cafe is definitely a restaurant survivor.

The restaurant, recently the location of an New York Times interview, is celebrating that milestone, beginning with a concert.

Performing June 30 at the restaurant will be Tower of Power guitarist Bruce Conte.

Opening for Conte will be Jazz Junkies.

Doors open at 5 p.m.

Tickets, $30, include dinner and are available only at the restaurant, 602 N. Mount Vernon Ave.

Another anniversary event is planned for September.
