Driving through Redlands this morning, I spotted a sign at an industrial park that piqued my interest: Cookie Outlet.

So, after breakfast at McDonald’s, I had to investigate.

It turns out that the outlet, which has been open about three weeks, is in a warehouse for the Traditional Baking company, which has its industrial bakery in Bloomington.

It’s not really a store, per se, I mean, they do have a cash register, but it’s actually just a row of pallets in a big warehouse, stacked high with boxes of cookies.

At really cheap prices.

If you’re looking for individual packages of cookies as in a traditional bakery outlet, keep driving.

However, if you are planning a party and want to have a party tray loaded with cookies, this is your place.

If you run a food kitchen and want to offer dessert, you might want to stop here.

If you’re a soccer mom and are in charge of feeding the team…I think you can figure out the rest.

Prices start at $7 a box and go up to about $24.

My initial purchase? A dozen packages of windmill cookies (at 15 cookies per package), for a total of 180 cookies, for a cool $9.

For you non-math types, that comes out to 75 a package, or a mere 5 per cookie.

The same box sells for $19.95 on Traditional’s website.

It’s not outdated goods, either…the packages I bought don’t expire until April 30 of next year.

They’ve got a variety of cookies, too, from soft chocolate chip to sugar cookies to tea rings to gingerbread men and more.

In fact, right now they’ve got a test run of green- and red-sugared Christmas cookies.

And for you diabetics, the outlet even has a small selection of sugar-free cookies.

Some cookies are packaged as you would find them in the grocery store, and some are packaged individually or two to a pack — perfect for the kids’ lunch boxes.

The Traditional Baking/Baker’s Batch outlet, at 2470 W. Lugonia Ave., is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Head west to the end of Lugonia Avenue from California Street, then turn right, and it’s the first warehouse on the left. Follow the signs to the entrance, which is all the way at the back of the warehouse.

Bring cash, as the outlet doesn’t take credit cards.
