Tickets available now for 19th annual Chocolate Fantasy

Who doesn’t love chocolate?

Diabetics, I suppose, and even most of them probably love chocolate, even if they’re not supposed to eat it.

If you love chocolate, good food and supporting a worthy cause, tickets are available now for the 19th annual Chocolate Fantasy.

The event is a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Sample Auntie Anne’s Honey Whole Grain Pretzel for free tomorrow

Auntie Anne’s Pretzels has rolled out (get it?) a Honey Whole Grain Pretzel and is offering free samples tomorrow (January 19) and three upcoming Saturdays.

In addition to tomorrow, the chain is having “Sampling Saturdays” February 2 and 16 and March 9.

Not only will pretzel lovers be able to sample the new pretzel on those days, but they’ll also have opportunities to win instant prizes and, perhaps, a $25,000 cash prize.

Dunkin’ Donuts coming to Inland Empire, Southern California

One of the bigger food news items of the week is that Dunkin’ Donuts is making a return to Southern California.

The news is not unexpected.

The chain opened an outpost at Camp Pendleton back in May of last year, and it was widely speculated at the time that location was just the first of many to come.

Many is now defined as 150.

Chili’s fundraiser for Matt Lipp is Tuesday

Comatose Rancho Cucamonga High School student Matt Lipp will get some support from Chili’s Grill & Bar on Tuesday (January 22).

The restaurant’s Rancho Cucamonga, Chino Hills, Fontana, Montclair, Diamond Bar and Corona locations will donate 15% of sales that day to Matt’s family for his healthcare costs when you present the flier at right.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Matt, who had no prior major healthcare issues, suffered a seizure January 4 and has been hospitalized ever since.

Mimi’s Cafe offering all-you-can-eat lunch special during January

This month, Mimi’s Cafe is offering an all-you-can-eat soup and salad lunch special.

For just $6.99, you can enjoy unlimited soup and salad, plus a muffin, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.

You can choose from corn chowder, French onion soup, roasted tomato and basil bisque or the soup of the day, along with a garden or Caesar salad.

We’re partial to Mimi’s French onion soup, which we inevitably order every time we go, as we did when we took advantage of this deal earlier this week. The tomato bisque was really delicious, as well!

Inland Empire Mimi’s Cafe locations include San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Fontana, Chino and Victorville.

Food Truck Mania returns to Claremont January 26

It’s been a while since the Claremont High School Music Boosters held its first food truck fundraiser, but they’re going it again.

The latest Food Truck Mania will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, January 26, at Taylor Hall, 1775 N. Indian Hill Blvd. (at Scripps Drive), Claremont.

It is a free event.

A portion of the proceeds of food sales will benefit CHS Music Booster programs.

A good variety of trucks are scheduled for the event, including our pals from the Rancho Cucamonga-based Suite 106 Cupcakery. Click over the jump for a list.

When is a footlong not a footlong?

The latest social media dust-up involves an Australian man and Subway.

It all started when the man posted on Subway’s Facebook page a picture of his footlong sub with a measuring tape along the top of it. The sandwich measured only 11 inches.

The post simply read: subway pls respond.

Since that photo appeared, irritated Subway customers have flooded Subway’s Facebook page with comments, most angry with, but some supportive of the ubiquitous sandwich chain.

Several have posted pictures of their own sandwich measurements.

Half-price dessert at Arby’s today for National Hat Day

Today (January 15) is National Hat Day.

Arby’s, whose logo happens to be a giant hat, is hoping to make the ten-gallon hat part of American history.

To that end, the chain has begun a petition to make the ten-gallon hat the “first and only official national hat.”

Oh…and they’re also offering a coupon for half off a Chocolate Molten Lava Cake.

Brew and View continues at the Fox in Redlands

The Fox Event Center in Redlands is continuing its series combining dinner, drinks and film screenings.

The film series generally runs Monday through Thursday at the Fox, 123 Cajon St.

Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m., with the movie following at 7:30 p.m.

Beer and wine are available during the screenings.

The dinner menu changes with the film, and vegetarian options are always available.
