Cheers to learning at Fairplex on Saturday

Foodies won’t want to miss Saturday’s (June 22) Cheers event at Fairplex in Pomona.

Billed as “L.A.’s wine, spirits, beer and food festival,” the event showcases the award-winning wines, spirits, beers and olive oils of the Los Angeles International Competitions.

More importantly, it’s a fundraiser for educational programs at the Learning Centers at Fairplex, which offers educational programs for students of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Tickets — $50 in advance and $60 at the door — include beverage and olive oil samplings, plus $10 to spend at any of a dozen food trucks.

Plus, half of your ticket price ($25) is tax deductible, so if you do the math, it really only costs you $15 to get in, right?

The event runs from 7 to 11 p.m. Attendees must be 21 years of age or older and bring a valid I.D.

The night will also feature a silent auction and dancing.
