Stamp Out Hunger returns tomorrow

Stamp Out Hunger 2014Tomorrow (May 10) marks the 22nd annual National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger food drive, the largest single-day food drive in the country.

It’s incredibly easy to participate! All you have to do is root through your pantry and gather some non-perishable items (please make sure that they’re not expired and avoid glass containers) and bag them up.

Then just put them by your mailbox before the carrier comes tomorrow.

Of course, if you want to head to the grocery store to pick up a few things to donate, even better!

The carriers will also accept baby food, toiletries and pet food. The food banks accepting the donations will pass along the toiletries and pet food to where they need to go.

The food will be distributed to local food banks, so your donations are helping those in your community.

Monetary donations are also accepted…just make out a check to your local food bank (here in the Inland Empire, it’s Second Harvest Food Bank serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties), put it in an envelope, write “Letter Carriers’ Food Drive” on the envelope, and leave it by or in your mailbox.
