Blaze Pizza coming to Riverside Plaza, offering free pizza for a day

Blaze PizzaPizza fans! Mark your calendars for next Tuesday (June 17).

That’s the day the new Blaze Pizza will be giving out free pizza.

Yes…free!

It’s the second Inland Empire location for the chain, which opened at the Desert Hills Premium Outlets in Cabazon back in April.

The new pizzeria is in Riverside Plaza, at 3540 Riverside Plaza Drive, Suite 328.

Rancho Cucamonga Jersey Mike’s Subs is open

The Inland Empire’s newest Jersey Mike’s Subs opened yesterday (June 11).

The sandwich shop has moved into the former Quiznos at 9659 Milliken Ave., #102, Rancho Cucamonga. It’s is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

The location has distributed 3,000 coupons good for a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Foothill Family Shelter, Rancho Cucamonga Community Services, or Living the Dream Foundation. Customers must have a coupon to get the deal, which is good through Sunday (June 15).

Locations in Fontana and Menifee are also in the works.

Elephant Bar shuttering about a third of its locations

We knew that the San Bernardino Elephant Bar, 1050 E. Harriman Place, was closing, and have recently learned that it will close tomorrow (June 11). However, that’s not the end of the story. Tomorrow is National Doughnut Day

Tomorrow (June 6) is National Doughnut Day, an event begun during the Great Depression by the Salvation Army as a way to raise funds and bring awareness to the organization’s social service programs.

It also commemorates the “doughnut lassies,” female Salvation Army volunteers who provided writing supplies, stamps, clothes-mending and home-cooked meals, and of course, doughnuts, for soldiers on the front lines, initially during World War I.

Baker’s Drive-Thru hits 100K Facebook likes, offers $1 meal

Lots of people like Baker’s Drive-Thru…but how many people “like” like Baker’s?

Well, 100,000 people have “liked” Inland Empire-based Baker’s Facebook page, and the “great food, close to home” chain responded by offering a $1 meal for its fans.

The meal consists of a bean and cheese burrito, small fries and a 16-ounces fountain drink for just a buck.

Spring brings another round of Inland Empire restaurant changes

Regular readers of this blog know that if there is one constant here in the Inland Empire, at least in the food service industry, it is change.

Recently, it feels as if that change has accelerated, highlighted by a few major restaurant closures.

Two of those closures happened at the end of May.

Both Redlands’ Farm Artisan Foods and Highland’s SportsWatch Bar and Grill closed May 31.
