San Bernardino International Tamale Festival moved from Perris Hill Park

San Bernardino International Tamale FestivalTalk about your last-minute drama.

The permit for inaugural San Bernardino International Tamale Festival, set for this weekend (January 9 and 10) at Perris Hill Park, was revoked by the city late yesterday (January 7) due to an expected 40% chance of rain at around 9 p.m. Saturday night.

Note that:

  1. The event was only scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.
  2. The letter was dated Thursday and delivered via email at nearly 5 p.m. Most city offices — except for the mayor’s office, the city attorney and the water department — are closed on Friday, and the event is Saturday and Sunday.

Crazy, huh?

The good news is that the festival is still on.

The free event is now set to take place at the Arrowhead Elks Club, 1073 N. Mount Vernon Ave.
